| New Hot Fuzz Fic: "It Takes All Kinds" - Ensemble - R |
[Sep. 24th, 2009|11:21 am] |
Title: It Takes All Kinds Fandom: Hot Fuzz Characters/Pairing: Various, Nicholas/Danny Rating: R (mostly for language) Notes: mushroom18 wanted to know what the rest of Sandford thinks. I promised a snippet. This is more like a collection of snippets all strung together. There are a few voices missing, like Walker and the Turners, but I'm about to leave for a long weekend in Stratford-Upon-Avon and my brain's quickly shutting down. I hope I've included a varied enough sampling! I tried to push a bit outside of Sandford, even. Summary: Perception is half the battle.

New Hot Fuzz Fic, written for oxoniensis's Porn Battle: |
[Jan. 29th, 2009|05:53 pm] |
Title: Chain Reaction Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: NC-17 (albeit a low-grade one) Notes: I've chosen the open your mouth prompt. It's a porn battle, what can I say? Summary: Movies, popcorn, and sexual innuendo.

| New Hot Fuzz fic: "Proper Action (and Shakespeare)" - Nicholas/Danny - R |
[Jan. 15th, 2009|09:06 pm] |
Title: Proper Action (and Shakespeare) Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: R Notes: There's a sliver of lost time between Nicholas and Danny leaving the Romeo & Juliet venue's pub and when we see Nicholas awakened by (presumably) Fisher's phonecall in his hotel room. Thinking about that led to an isolated snippet that, once I'd written it down, seemed like a good starting-point for a slightly longer piece. Enter sleeplessness, wine-imbibing, and a stroll down memory lane with some of the Bard's other classics - and, if necessary, reinterpretations thereof. Voilà. My apologies to Dire Straits, to whom, unlike HF's fearless director, I cannot afford to pay royalties for making use of lyrics from their "Romeo and Juliet." Summary: An homage to what proper action is - or isn't - about.

| "Staring Right Back" - Nicholas/Danny - R |
[Dec. 10th, 2008|06:37 pm] |
Title: Staring Right Back Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: R Notes: This is a companion piece to Eye of the Beholder. Enough said. The requests for Nicholas's POV were resounding, and I'm still on bed-rest. It's a win-win situation. Summary: What bothers Nicholas is - well, you'll find out.

| "Eye of the Beholder" - Nicholas/Danny - PG13/R |
[Dec. 9th, 2008|12:13 am] |
Title: Eye of the Beholder Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: PG-13/Rish Notes: I was talking to goddessdster last week, and one of the topics that came up was the tendency for some people in fandom to slight characters like Danny on account of their size. A couple of days later, I taught a seminar session on Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, the theme of which, this being a literature course, was the concept of the narrative gaze. Later on, I got to thinking about Danny and Nicholas in context as viewed objects: while Danny occasionally catches flak in the form of size-ist insults from Wainwright and Cartwright, Nicholas is the one most constantly viewed as some kind of freak. It's as if Danny is on the whole accepted for who and how he is by his community, whereas it takes a skinny health-nut like Nicholas to actually raise eyebrows. Danny's the only one to accept him as he is. It's no big thing that Nicholas is not into eating the cake and ice cream every single time it's offered, etc. This is what I've been scribbling in bed when I'm coherent. I'm considering a counterpoint piece from Nicholas's point of view, because who knows how long this flu will last. Summary: Nobody seems to look at Nicholas as the sum of his parts.

| New Hot Fuzz fic: "A Thousand Miles" - Nicholas/Danny - R |
[Dec. 1st, 2008|02:27 am] |
Title: A Thousand Miles Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: R Notes: After two over-10k-word hauls, my mind's slowly recovering. I've had The Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be" in my head for days on end, and I realized a couple days ago that I would desperately love to see a Hot Fuzz fanvid to the song. As tied up as it is in Benny & Joon, there's something weirdly perfect about it in the case of Nicholas and Danny. This story premise is the fusion of an early one that I didn't write and a breath of fresh imagery that's come of listening to the song. Summary: Distances aren't always a means of separation.

| New Hot Fuzz fic: "Your Wildest Dreams" - Nicholas/Danny - NC17 |
[Nov. 11th, 2008|11:05 pm] |
Title: Your Wildest Dreams Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: NC-17 Notes: This is my first attempt at a substantially longer story featuring these guys (as all of my previous efforts have been on the briefer end of the spectrum). The idea, however, has been floating around my flat for at least a few weeks. A little bit of codeine and a long Sunday lie-in finally made it click. Also note that the phrase in hospital is not missing a word - Brits cut the from this phrase altogether! Summary: Fantasies are only dangerous when you start wishing they'll come true.
( It was the worst subject they could've got onto, but Danny didn't know it at the time. ) |

| A little Hot Fuzz sequel to tide you over till the new TDK fic goes up on the 30th: |
[Sep. 21st, 2008|08:10 pm] |
Title: Adjustments Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: PG-13/R Notes: This piece follows Perfection; I thought it was time to switch over from sounding out first-times to choosing one of said first-times and building on it. Of the three I'd turned out, I thought that Perfection presented the best platform for continuation - so there you have it. I realized that the orchid and the reference to Danny's boxes had potentially opened up some quirky domestic possibilities (unless I've misjudged; in which case, feel free to tell me which one actually deserved a sequel). Where all the various sub-sections of Perfection were from Danny's point of view, I think it's fitting that this one should be comprised entirely of Nicholas's. Summary: People, plants, and boxes make for cramped quarters indeed.

| More Hot Fuzz fic: "At First Sight" - Nick/Danny - R/NC17 |
[Sep. 16th, 2008|12:36 am] |
Title: At First Sight Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: R/NC-17 Notes: As something of a departure from my previous two pieces (When to Stop & Perfection), this story is one that actually reaches back into the fabric of the film for certain of its scenes and situations. As you can probably guess, it's a sequence of firsts for these guys - some of them more meaningful than others. Summary: The importance of little things can take a good while to sink in.
( Nicholas made a mental note to ask about that first, although the hedgehog would also need explaining. ) |

| New Hot Fuzz fic: "Perfection" - Nick/Danny - R |
[Sep. 10th, 2008|11:32 pm] |
Title: Perfection Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: R Notes: God help me, but those reporters and their irrelevant questions are kind of intriguing. Like my first piece, this is a stand-alone, first-time story. But since When to Stop is from Nicholas's perspective, I figured I'd better do this one from Danny's. Summary: What's your idea of a perfect...?

| Hot Fuzz fic: "When to Stop" - Nick/Danny - R/NC17 |
[Sep. 9th, 2008|03:38 am] |
Title: When to Stop Fandom: Hot Fuzz Pairing: Nicholas/Danny Rating: R/NC-17 Notes: At this point, I can't keep track of what-all is going on in my head. I really can't. Saw the film for the first time earlier this evening - or, no, at this point, it's yesterday evening. Might as well get this out of my system. In my mind, this is set more or less immediately post-film, but you can place it post-canon wherever you will. Summary: Discovering the extent of one's limits is never an easy process.
( Awkward doesn't even begin to cover it. ) |
